Darlington Review – March 2009
March 25, 2009
The meeting in January was our AGM, held at one of our member’s new house. We started with dinner and spent time catching up with each other, which was good as we often don’t have the time to do so.
The reports were read, our new President Kim was installed and all positions were filled.
This year is a special year for Soroptimist International of Helena as we will be celebrating 25 years as a club.
This year will be busy as usual. SOS day (Saturday of Service), International Woman’s Day breakfast and the region’s AGM will keep us occupied for the month of March.
At our February meeting we started with a minutes silence for those who had lost so much in the Victorian bush fires.
Jasmine O’Hara from Epilepsy Action was our speaker at the February meeting. She spoke about the incidence of Epilepsy in the population, identifying types of seizures, First Aid at seizure scenes, and what Epilepsy Action Australia and the Epilepsy Association of WA work together to do to assist sufferers. I learnt things I wasn’t aware of about Epilepsy. The talk was very interesting.
We have had a change of venue. Till July we will be meeting at the Woodlupine Community Centre at Woolworths Drive, Forrestfield. Meetings are still held on the third Tuesday of the month. For more information please phone 92996230.
