April 25, 2009
Celebrating 25 years of volunteer service to the community, Soroptimist International of Helena will commemorate their anniversary with a lunch at the Jane Brook Winery on Saturday April 18.
Since its inception in 1984, the group has been involved in a number of local projects and worked closely with community groups.
Past president Krys Kerr said their aim was to inspire action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and giles through a global network of members and international partnerships.
“Soroptimists work through awareness, advocacy and action projects,” she said. “Our club has worked with a nubmer of groups including the Eastern Region Koolkuna Womens Refuge and Cypres Gardens Nursing Centre.
“We have assisted with events like Trek the Trail and the Darlington festival, and have put together fundraisers such as quiz nights and fashion shows.”
The anniversary lunch will feature international president Margaret Lobo and WA region president Julie Ham.
