Darlington Review – June 2009
June 25, 2009
Soroptimist International of Helena held its Annual Fashion Parade on Sunday 17th May at a new venue this year, Lesmurdie Club, Boronia Road, Lesmurdie. The function coincided exactly with the celebration of 81 years to the day that the first Flying Doctor flight took to the air and most of the proceeds will go to the purchase of equipment for them. We were very delighted at the large number of women who joined us to enjoy the parade of lovely clothes by Kimbos of Midland, followed by a delicious lunch provided by Chef of the Day. Thank you to all who supported us.
We extend a warm invitation to all who are interested to join us on Tuesday 30th June at 7 pm in Woodlupine Community Centre, Woolworth’s Drive, Forrestfield, for an awareness evening. We will be screening an Australian-produced film “The Jammed” about Trafficked women in our country, which is based on true stories from actual court transcripts. This evening is free and soup, bread, tea and coffee will be provided. For catering purposes, please ring Kim on 9453 3214.
