At our June meeting, Lynn Tognolini spoke to us about the “Uthando Doll Project” and her visit to Africa. The Uthando Doll Project is about touching the hearts of carers and children through play. The project at Kwan Zulu Natal province, which has the highest incidence of HIV/AIDS. The carers are often grandmothers or quite often an older child. So far 20,000 hand-made dolls have been delivered. The dolls all have removable clothing. The dolls have been made by various people including school children here in the hills. Georgia has doll making on Fridays at 2 Healey Place Gooseberry Hill, from 0930 till 1600. Phone 92932363.

On Saturday 6th June several of our members attended a net-working lunch with the President of Soroptimist International of the South West Pacific Leigh Ellwood-Brown and Yvonne Simpson, President Elect of Soroptimist International of the South West Pacific.
Also on the same day in the evening was the chartering of a new club Soroptimist International Maylands Peninsula. Our club presented the new club with a gold coloured tablecloth embroidered with their name and day of charter.
