News – December 2007
We have been very busy during the last few weeks. The last weekend in October saw us hold an information booth at the Zig Zag Festival in Kalamunda in conjunction with Soroptimist International Darling Range. We also took part in the parade down Haynes Street with our float decked out in information about several of the projects that we support. The parade ended in Stirk Park.
The following weekend we battled the heat and the flies to hold a very successful doughnut stall at the Darlington Arts Festival. Our club sends a big “thank you” to everyone who supported us.
We then held a sausage sizzle at the Whistlepipe Nusery in Forestfield who were part of the Open Garden Scheme. Again we did this in conjunction with Soroptimist International Darling Range.
Towards the end of November we held a meeting with our inspirational Guest Speaker Bobbi Buckle talking about our latest project and offered the chance to meet with other dedicated women helping making a difference in today’s world.
If you didn’t manage to make it to our wonderful evening but have been thinking about doing something new or different in the New Year – then why not consider becoming a Soroptimist? If you would like to know more about us – have a look on www.siswp.org or contact our Membership Officer Rosalie Gordon on 9299 6230 or President Krys Kerr on 9291 9386. We would love to meet you!
Once again, thank you to everyone who has supported us during 2007 and we wish you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2008.
Naomi Allan
Immediate Past President
Publicity Officer
