Projects for 2010
Soroptimist International Programme Focus Objectives
For 2007 – 2011
- Eliminate poverty and gender discrimination through ensuring women’s full social and economic rights
- End human trafficking and all forms of violence against women and girls
- Ensure access to health care for women and girls
- Support programmes and policies that eliminate HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis and other major diseases
- Improve access to clean water, sanitation and essential food resources
- Mitigate the effects of climate change and integrate sustainability into personal choices and government policies and programmes
- Meet the needs of women and girls during and after armed conflicts and disasters
- Promote peaceful conflict resolution, inter-cultural and inter-racial tolerance and condemn genocide and terrorism
- Ensure equal access to education and training for women and girls throughout their lifespan
- Assure women’s advancement in management, politics and decision-making

Local
- Providing support and advocacy for West Australian Assistance Dogs (WAADs) – www.waadinc.org.au
- Delivering 2nd hand magazines to St Bartholemews – www.stbarts.org.au
- Support Koolkuna Women’s Refuge & a member is on the Eastern Region Services Network Board – www.koolkuna.org.au
- Support Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) – www.rfdswa.org.au
- Sponsor the Dibbler through an Endangered Species Programme at Perth Zoo – www.perthzoo.wa.gov.au
- Trek the Trail – Assist with registration of walkers
- Zig Zag Festival – Assist with organisation of street parade
- SOS Day – Saturday of Service – Provide morning tea and interaction with elderly residents at Cypress Gardens High Care Facility in Greenmount
- Kalamunda Youth Swing Band – Provide an annual scholarship for an upcoming musician
International
- Forwarding donated medical and other supplies to Bumi Sehat a birthing clinic in Bali – www.bumisehatbali.org
- Support John Fawcett Foundation Eye Clinic in Bali – www.balieye.org

Quadrennial (International) Project 2007 – 2011
- Project SIerra – a Family and a Future, supporting women caring for children in extreme poverty and providing a caring secure family home for children who are alone or at risk of abandonment in Sierre Leone – www.projectsierra.org
